Flagship programme

KPI Grid Clinic

An eight-week studio for people who already ship app events and still cannot defend the live tiles in a product review. You work on one real grid, not a toy dataset.

Monitor showing dense operational data during a clinic session

What you leave with

A published KPI grid: no more than nine live tiles, each with grain, a freshness window, a named steward, and a sentence on what the tile must never be used to decide. You also keep a change log template for definition edits.

You will not leave with a vendor certification, a staff-engineer title, or a promise that your warehouse will stay cheap. Those are different problems.

Length
Eight weeks, one live markup session per week, plus a written desk critique
Fee
£1,640 per seat (informational). Materials included. Travel not included.
Seat mix
Product, mobile, and analytics. We cap a cohort at 14 so markup stays readable.
Where
Billingford studio or remote. GB working hours.

Modules

  1. Inventory without decoration

You list every live tile the company already treats as a KPI. We strike anything that is a screenshot, a weekly export, or a metric with three informal names.

  2. Grain and identity

User, device, session, and receipt are not interchangeable. We walk a single conversion path until the grain is boring and written down.

  3. Late events and watermarks

Mobile clients lie about clocks. We practise labelling a tile when the watermark is behind the wall clock, instead of hiding the delay in a spinner.

  4. Joins that rewrite history

Slowly changing dimensions, deleted accounts, and “current plan” lookups. You mark which joins are allowed to move yesterday’s number.

  5. Guardrails versus vanity

Error rate, crash-free sessions, and refund volume sit next to the hero metric so a lift cannot be celebrated in isolation.

  6. Owner map and freeze windows

Who may edit a definition during a campaign freeze. Who is paged when the tile is stale but the stream is healthy.

  7. Board language

How to title a live tile so it cannot be quoted as a quarterly forecast. Practice memos, not slide theatre.

  8. Public critique

Each seat presents one grid. The rest of the room is required to find one unowned join. Politeness is optional; vagueness is not.

Instructor

Portrait of clinic instructor Amira Cole

Amira Cole

Studio lead. Previously ran live commerce metrics for a UK marketplace; now teaches from Billingford. She will not debug your Kafka cluster in class. She will make you write the lag sentence until it is specific.

Fees (informational)

The public clinic seat is £1,640. A pair of seats from the same employer is £2,980 if both people work the same grid. We do not take card payments on this site. Invoices are issued after a written confirmation. See fees and refunds.

Questions we actually get

Do I need a streaming platform already?

Yes. If you only have nightly batch tables, this clinic will frustrate you. We can point you to reading, but we will not pretend batch is live.

Will you look at our production cluster?

Only as screenshots and query text you are allowed to share. We do not take VPN access. That is a limitation of the programme, not a sales dodge: shared classrooms and production keys do not mix.

Is the fee refundable if I miss weeks?

Missed sessions are not refunded automatically. The written policy is on the refund page. Recordings are not a substitute for markup; the room has to argue with you.

Can a whole squad join?

We prefer two seats, not eight. Large groups turn the critique into a status meeting. Private board-pack work is a different booking.

Voices from seats

“I wanted a dashboard restyle. Amira made us delete four tiles before we were allowed to discuss colour. Annoying, and the remaining five finally had owners.”

★★★★☆

Solid on joins and lag. Thin if you were hoping for a Spark tutorial. I still use the owner map template on Mondays.
